SINGAPORE, Sept 1 – The General Election shifted into high gear on Tuesday (Sep 1). All political parties planning to contest the elections have to file their papers at nine nomination centres across the island for the Nomination Day. Those who successfully file their nomination papers will be represented at the ballot on Polling Day on Sep 11, 2015.
Meanwhile, the candidates are expected to begin arriving at the nomination centres from 10am when the centres open. They were accompanied by their proposers, seconders and at least four assentors who must all be registered as the voters. There were all 89 seats in Parliament that could be contested for the first time since Singapore’s Independence.
In the same time, there were also nine political parties are expected to field the candidates into each of the 16 Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) and 13 Single Member Constituencies (SMCs). Besides that, most of the opposition parties who had remaining will also introduced their potential of the candidates. Although most of them did not revealed where the candidates will be contesting.
