BANGKOK, Sept 2 – Thai security authorities arrested a suspect believed to be involved in bombings in Bangkok two weeks ago in an area near the Thai-Cambodian border.Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, said the suspects were arrested this morning in Thai territory, implying that the country has made great progress in the case since the arrest of the first suspect on Saturday.
“I have been informed of the arrest of suspects during lunch time. He was arrested in the village of Parai in Sakeaw region,” he said at a media briefing center Tuesday. He described the man as a key suspect. Sakaew region located in the eastern part of Thailand and about three hours drive from Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the Thai authorities refused to name the suspects or citizenship, even though social media has provided the information. According to information in social media, Twitter, and Facebook chat applications LINE, suspects arrested on Tuesday is a 25-year-old Chinese citizen originally from Xinjiang Uighur Muslim ethnic groups of the region. The suspect allegedly tried to leave the country illegally.
