SINGAPORE, Oct 11 – The nose gear of a Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane collapsed this morning at Changi Airport with the confirmed of the airline in response to queries from Channel NewsAsia. SIA said there were no passengers or crew on board at the time during it collapsed.
The airline added that the plan collapse was happened at around 8am while there were one engineer was on the aircraft but was not hurt. SIA said the Airbus A330-300 is registered as 9V-STG, and had last operated flight SQ835 which arrived in Singapore from Shanghai at 12.49am. The aircraft was next due to have operated SQ890 to Hong Kong this morning.
However, the airline also said that there were another aircraft was used for that flight due to maintenance being carried out on the plane which collapsed. According to online flight schedules, SQ890 was scheduled to depart at 7.35am this morning, but took off instead at 8.18am.
SIA said they do not have details of damage to the aircraft at this point due to an assessment will be carried out after it is removed from the gate. Meanwhile, SIA also said that Singapore Airlines will be co-operating fully with the authorities in their investigations.
