KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 – The information on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) must be given in an inclusive manner to all of the strata of society before the agreement is implemented, an UMNO representative from Johor had proposed on it.
Tanjong Piai UMNO division vice-head Suhaimi Salleh said the move would enable the people to obtain clear information and understand the issues concerning TPPA. He said when debating the motion on the economy at the 2015 UMNO General Assembly, here Saturday.
He said it is insufficient to place the information on TPPA only on the website of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) which no one will read and understand the 6,000 pages of the agreement letter which is complicated. In the meantime, the TPPA encompasses certain areas such as market access, technical hindrances to trade, regulations of the countries of origin, customs cooperation, investment, services and issues on the law and institutions.
