IPOH, February 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a RM20 million allocation for Chinese vernacular primary schools (SJKC) nationwide in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year, on top of the RM80 million approved in January for school maintenance and repairs.

Speaking at the Tambun Madani Chinese New Year and Ramadan aid presentation ceremony at SMJK Yuk Choy, Anwar said the additional funding would support basic facilities and infrastructure needs, describing it as a gesture of appreciation for the Chinese community and a shared commitment to nation-building.

In his address, Anwar urged students to prioritise character, discipline and mutual respect alongside academic excellence, stressing that Malaysia’s diversity should foster understanding rather than division.
