KUALA LUMPUR, February 15 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will increase its daily Electric Train Service (ETS) trips to 58 during the Chinese New Year period to meet rising festive demand, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced today.
Speaking at KL Sentral, Loke said the addition of a new ETS3 train set will allow 16 extra daily trips, including two additional services to Padang Besar, providing 5,040 extra seats from February 15 to 22.
Loke said KTMB has made a total of 183,324 tickets available for the February 2026 festive season, a 28% increase from last year, with 51,444 additional tickets offered — a 483% rise in extra ETS tickets year-on-year.
He added that the expansion follows operational approval for the eighth ETS3 set, enabling near 24-hour service, and is part of efforts to ease congestion and improve travel convenience during the holiday rush.
