PONTIAN, February 16 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has directed that small-scale projects across all districts be expedited to ensure immediate benefits for the people, stressing that basic needs such as repairing drains, patching potholes and fixing surau must take priority alongside major national developments.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the additional building at Pontian Hospital, he said district officers are required to submit reports on local projects to prevent implementation delays, while the Public Works Department has been tasked with strengthening contractor selection and monitoring to avoid leakages and mismanagement.
Anwar also ordered the Pontian Hospital expansion to be classified as a fast-track project and approved an immediate RM2 million allocation for basic facilities and a surau in the district, reaffirming his commitment to clean and efficient governance under the Madani framework.
