KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has condemned the coordinated strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran, describing them as a “vile attempt” to derail ongoing negotiations and escalate regional tensions.

Calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, Anwar warned that the Middle East is “at the edge of catastrophe” and urged all parties to pursue diplomacy over further military action.

The strikes mark one of the most serious escalations in recent years, raising fears of a broader conflict amid fragile talks over Iran’s nuclear programme.

Malaysia also expressed concern for its citizens in the region. The Malaysian Embassy in Doha advised Malaysians in Qatar to remain indoors, monitor verified updates.

And avoid military areas, noting that parts of Qatar’s airspace have been closed.
