KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 – Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (Permatang Pauh- PKR) has filed the notice for her motion for a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (Pekan- BN). She submitted the notice earlier today. In a press conference at the Parliament lobby, Dr Wan Azizah said that the motion only relates to the loss of confidence in Najib but not in the Government.
She said she have reasonable grounds to believe that the majority of the Dewan Rakyat and therefore this means not only the 88 Opposition MPs but also a sufficient number of MPs in Barisan Nasional have lost confidence in the leadership of Pekan to lead the government.
She added that this is because she and many others irrespective of political affiliations believe that the difficult economic, social and political crisis this country is facing is due to the leadership crisis in the country. Meanwhile, she said the decision was made as the people in the country are currently suffering with the increasingly high costs of living and economic hardship under Najib’s premiership, whose policies are now proving to be a failure.
Wan Azizah said she trust all Members of Parliament would vote according to their conscience. We must put aside our politics and put the interest of the nation above all else. When asked whether Hee Loy Sian’s (Petaling Jaya Selatan-PKR) similar motion will be withdrawn to accommodate the latest motion filed, Dr Wan Azizah said no as the Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia had informed her that he had received the motion.
On Monday, the Dewan Rakyat accepted the motion proposed by Hee to submit a no-confidence vote against the premier. The matter was confirmed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman in a statement yesterday. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had then reminded that the issue should not be politicised as the motion had been listed as the 25th order under the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Orders and Motions.
