KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also UMNO president, is currently chairing a meeting of UMNO’s Supreme Council (MT) at the temporary Parliament building at Parliament House here on Tuesday. He
arrived at 6pm while other MT members including vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had arrived much earlier.
However, there was no sign of deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and vice president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. The meeting which was brought forward from its original date is understood will discuss preparations for the UMNO general assembly next month.
On Sunday, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had said the move to hold the meeting at Parliament House instead of the UMNO headquarters which was the norm, was to facilitate MT members as most of them were also MPs.
The meeting was brought forward from the original date of Nov 27 because it was too close to the general assembly, which starts on Dec 8, besides some of the MT members unable to make the Nov 27 date. In the meantime, there was also a big media presence in front of Meeting Room 2 at the building, the venue for the meeting.
