KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 – Several UMNO and Perkasa members welcome former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as he was returned from a holiday in Osaka, Japan for two days after the UMNO Supreme Council went against convention in not having him officiate party wing assemblies during the general assembly next month.
Muhyiddin added that he will be speak on Friday. He was welcomed with chants of “Hidup Tan Sri” by supporters who wore “Keranamu Malaysia” t-shirts and also some in Wanita UMNO uniforms. The UMNO Supreme Council decided that respective wing chiefs would officiate the Youth, Puteri and Wanita assemblies, breaking convention of having the deputy president officiating those meets.
Besides that, Muhyiddin, who was removed from the Cabinet in July following his criticism of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s brainchild 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), while he has continued his criticism of the firm while choosing to remain in UMNO.
