KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 – Umno Supreme Council (MT) member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said action could be taken against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for violating party rules and not because of the issues he had raised. He said he agree if action is to be taken but not because of his queries about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) or the RM2.6 billion.
“It is a matter of breaching party discipline, because previously MT had given instructions to the president and deputy president to not discuss this matter in public but to use the MT platform to ask any questions,” he told reporters after visiting the Umno General Assembly 2015 media centre at the Putra World Trade Centre, here Wednesday.
The Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications director said the Umon MT was the highest body in the party and any directives issued by the body must be followed. Abdul Rahman said Muhyiddin should be present at any session of the Umno General Assembly 2015 in order for him to know the real situation and see the overwhelming support from delegates for the party president.
“We saw Tuesday (at the presidential briefing) that Muyhiddin’s seat was empty; it means that Umno welcomed the deputy president to attend the meeting. Because he was not present, he could not feel the delegates’ body language and response to what was being said by the president. On the proposal to limit the Umno president’s post to two terms, it would affect the president’s long-term plannings for the party,” he said.
