PETALING JAYA, Feb 24 – UMNO Youth today lodged a police report against Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for what it claimed was his approval for putting up #BebasAnwar (Free Anwar) billboards in several places in the state.
An executive committee member, Armand Azha Abu Hanifah, said the billboards showed that the opposition party did not respect the law and the institution of the courts. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is serving a five-year jail sentence for sodomising a former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. He said that the billboards show that public money has been used for a political purpose.
He said this when met at the Damansara Utama Police headquarters here. Armand Azha said he also lodged a police report against the Selangor Kini newspaper for allegedly having reported that Anwar was a political prisoner. Last Monday, Selangor UMNO had also lodged a similar police report on the billboards at the Sungai Buloh Police headquarters. The billboards are found in several areas, including Ampang Jaya, Kepong and Rawang.
