PUTRAJAYA, FEB 10 – The man at the centre of the Sodomy II case, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived at the courtroom at 9.04am, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Azizah Ismail and his daughter Nurul Izzah. He told reporters “I have gone through this before. I pray for the best.” He also said he felt “berdebar”(suspenseful) while waiting for his Sodomy II verdict before entering the packed courtroom.
His legal team led by Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram was already in the room. Lead prosecutor Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Shafee Abdullah entered the courtroom at 8.57am. Meanwhile, Wan Azizah says the Federal Court judges not only have to answer to the people but to conscience and to God. “Judgment has to be based on facts”, she says. “Let me not have reason to question the judiciary. Judges have to honour justice entrusted to them,” added Wan Azizah.
