KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 – A video by BFM Kupas a channel by business radio station BFM89.9 that appeared to poke fun at PAS’ hudud implementation plan in Kelantan is being shared on social media. The video, being shared on various Facebook pages, has however been labelled “private” on BFM Kupas’ YouTube page, unable to be viewed by the public. In the 1-minute-55-second long video, a girl named Aisyah is seen questioning the importance of implementation of hudud in Kelantan. At the start of the video, the black-haired girl is seen walking through a red line, finding herself suddenly clad in a tudung (headscarf) after passing through.

Initially shocked, she later mocks the change as she appears to find herself in Kelantan, where hudud is in place. “Finally, PAS’ dream to implement hudud in Kelantan becomes a reality, but for people not in Kelantan like me, the implementation is difficult,” she tells viewers. Addressing PAS, she goes on to say that it had been calling for hudud’s implementation for years, but did nothing to help the people in other ways. “What happened to the fate of flood victims in Kelantan?

“It’s been three months and they still don’t have homes. “Not only that, the use of drugs, divorce cases are high.” She later also opined that religion was used to blur people’s vision from important issues like the economy and administration. “When the time comes, I don’t know if hudud will fill our rice bowl,” she laments. The video that was shared on one Facebook page called Sultan Melaka has drawn much criticism from viewers. Nor Fatin Nadia posted: “Kalau taknak ikut hudud jangan hina hukum hudud. Siapa kau atas dunia ni? pinjam nikmat Allah tapi tak tahu malu hina apa yg dipinjamkan.”

(“If you don’t want to follow hudud, don’t insult hudud law. Who are you on this earth? Borrow God’s grace but not ashamed of insulting what was borrowed.”) Lin Mashuri said: “Berpolitik la sejauh mana pun, berkempen la sehebat mana pun tp jgn sekali-kali mempersendakan agama. Hudud itu hukum Allah bkn manusia!” (“Politicise all you want, campaign as greatly as you want, but don’t ever make fun of religion. Hudud is God’s law, not man-made.”) The video uploaded on the Facebook page had garnered more than 39,000 views as of late last night and more than 2,000 likes just after three hours of being uploaded. It is unknown why the video is labelled private on BFM Kupas’ Youtube channel, although other videos by the channel can be seen by the public.
