GEORGE TOWN, Aug 13 – A part of Highway Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu between the downstream of the Sungai Keluang 1 and the intersection of the Highway Kampung Jawa will be closed down starting this Saturday until 14 Jan. Closing the route to make way for the construction of multi-storey structure of the bridge across Sungai Kluang for Bayan Lepas Expressway project (BLE).
Construction Managers of UEM Bulder Berhad Ismade Ismail said that the following of the five-month closure of the route, motorists are advised to use the alternative routes available. He said the traffic from the center of George Town and Penang Bridge to the Penang International Airport, Gulf Kumbar, Batu Maung and bridge Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (JSAHMS) are advised to use Jalan Tun Dr Awang through the circle of Bayan Baru.
“Traffic on the direction and Batu Maung JSAHMS that point to the center of George Town and Penang Bridge are advised to use Jalan Damar Laut Board through the circle of Bayan Lepas and Jalan Tun Dr Awang. Bayan Lepas area of the town was turned into a one-way route in order to smoothen the traffic at the intersection of Betong Bay / Bayan Lepas,” he said at a press conference here today.
He said one way of scheduled or ‘tidal flow’ will also be performed on Jalan Bund which beside the Sungai Keluang from Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah to Hilir Sungai Kluang 2. Otherwise for traffic launched in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone 4 (FIZ) and the Industry Bayan Lepas.
“One-way flow in from Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah to FIZ 4th and Bayan Lepas Industrial area will be held in the morning starting at 6.45 am and 9.30 am while the one-way flow out into Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah of FIZ 4 and Bayan Lepas Industrial area will be held on the evening starts at 4.30 pm to 9 pm, “he said.
