GEORGE TOWN, Aug 24 – Penang State Government hold a press conference today announcement that the theme ‘Clean, Efficient, Accountable’ for the National Day celebrations in 2015 the state level and will use the same theme as the central government ‘in one accord’.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the withdrawal of that theme, there arises another problem for federal agencies such as the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) join the celebration of the National Day in 2015 at the state level. He said that the decision to withdraw from the ATM celebration this time due to submit to the central government’s insistence has led the state government to reconsider.
“Royal honor by ATM to the Governor of Penang Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas tradition is an obligation of the National Day celebrations. In the spirit of independence and to preserve the integrity of the President of the State of Penang as the head of state. The state government reluctantly withdrew the theme ‘Clean, Efficient, Accountable’,” he said.
“The state government will use the same theme as announced by the central government,” he said. Yesterday, the ATM has decided not to engage in any activity level National Day celebrations in Penang. In a statement, he said the decision was made following the theme of National Day celebrations organized by the state government that is ‘Clean, Efficient and Trustworthy’ is not in line with the spirit and the spirit of the celebration of National Day 2015.
Previously Penang Education Department also ordered that all schools in the state not to participate in any celebration and National Day parade organized by the state government until we get further instructions from the Ministry of Education.
