SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 – Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris advised the students not to be involved with the planned Bersih 4.0 rally held this weekend. He also said contrary to the law, students’ participation in the rally will also affect the reputation of their institution.
“No need to attend the rally due to this is not only inconvenient but also businessmen crowd. Do not listen to the crumbs we say elections were not clean, in fact did not happen it before. I was there first (assembly) clean,” he told reporters after visiting Karangkraf Media Group here on Monday.
Idris asked to comment on the planned Bersih 4.0 rally held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur; Kuching (Sarawak) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) on Saturday and Sunday. He said the students found to be involved could be charged under the Universities and University Colleges Act (UCCA) 1971 or according to national law in place. Previously, the police advised the public not to attend the gathering because it is unlawful and not complied with the notice requirements under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
