BESAR SUNGAI, Aug 30 – Umno division Sungai Besar on Sunday passed a motion asking Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down from the post of party deputy president with honor. The motion was proposed by the head of the division, Datuk Jamal Md Yunus in Umno division delegates Sungai Besar here on Sunday before they are discussed and approved with a total of 274 while 171 delegates supported the protest.
Proposals are of the view that Muhyiddin should provide an opportunity to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi continue strengthening the party to face the next general election. Jamal said in a statement after the meeting ended, said the proposal was resurrected after his party believes that UMNO can not have two masters, especially at a time when the party was crowded with a variety of issues that require the consent of all its members.
“This proposal received the support of over two thirds of the delegates present. We feel that Najib should have a loyal assistant, namely Ahmad Zahid. Time is too short, the focus is to vote against. If Muhyiddin remain as Vice President, he will not have another job as eager to answer questions raised Muhyiddin. The proposed motion was also to safeguard the confidentiality of the party’s Supreme Council meeting,” said Jamal.
