GEORGE TOWN, Sept 13 – Sixth Malaysia International Lion Dance Invitational Opening Ceremony with Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at Megamall, Penang here on Saturday afternoon. Also present were Penang State Tourism Development & Culture Danny Law Heng Kiang and Organising Committee Chairman Lay Hock Peng.
This year, there were 17 teams participate in this competition which included 3 teams participant from oversea as China, Indonesia and Vietnam. Besides that, there were also another 14 teams from Malaysia which each state 1 team from Kedah, Perak and Pahang while Penang, Wilayah Persekutuan and Negeri Sembilan each state have 3 teams and 2 teams from Johor participate in the competition.
“I believe all the participant who participate in this tournament having a good performance. In the same time, I hope that Lion dance’s culture may continue and carry forward on it. The most important thing is regardless of race and religion,” said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng during the opening ceremony of Sixth Malaysia International Lion Dance.
“Our dream is to make Penang city to be come a innovation city while also make it become a learning, inclusive and trading transactions location. Hope that Penang will becoming a high-income and international development of smart cities,” he added.
