PETALING JAYA, Oct 22 – Umno minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan today challenged opposition party leaders to step down from their party positions if their attempt to take down the Prime Minister through a no-confidence vote does not succeed.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan in his official Twitter account has called on opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to resign from their party posts if the no-confidence vote fails.
“If the no-confidence vote succeeds, PM will step down. If it is defeated WA (Wan Azizah), LGE (Lim Guan Eng) & LKS (Lim Kit Siang) must take full responsibility & resign frm their party posts,” the Kota Belud MP tweeted this morning. If the three leaders have any honour, they will resign if the vote of no confidence is defeated. That shows they can’t command the confidence of the opposition MPs,” Abdul Rahman tweeted Thursday.
“The opposition leaders ccould not just propose a no-confidence vote and pretend their reputations were not damaged if the vote was defeated. I urge the opposition leaders to take the challenge. Resign frm their political posts if NCV (no confidence vote) is defeated. Question is will they have the guts?” stated in Rahman tweet.
On Tuesday, Opposition leader Wan Azizah said she would go ahead and submit a fresh motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister despite the possibility that it would not be heard during the current Parliament sitting. Dr Wan Azizah said she and several PKR leaders met Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia in his office and decided to file the motion.
Pandikar told the Opposition to submit a list of MPs who supported the motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister. However, he said the motion would not be heard during the current Parliament sitting. Pandikar added that as per the Standing Orders, the motion should have been submitted 14 days before the start of parliamentary proceedings.
