KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 – Articles by Malaysiakini and The Star Online news portals office were raided by police officers from Putrajaya Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission (MCMC) this evening. One of the computer was confiscated during the 6pm raid to assist in the investigation.
Kuala Lumpur CID head Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said statements from news editors of the two media portal were recorded under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code. According to him, two articles, which were believed to be defamatory in nature, titled “Sudden transfer MACC prosecutor” and “MACC prosecutor shocked sudden transfer” were published in The Star Online on Nov 2nd.
We received complaints from Attorney-General Chambers on Nov 3 after finding that the content of the article was slanderous. The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code,” Zainuddin said in a statement today.
