KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 – The public are advised against using electrical appliances and to turn off the main switch where there is flooding at their premises to avoid electrical shocks. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) senior general manager (corporate affairs and communication) Datuk Ir Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin said consumers should contact TNB through TNB Careline 15454 or Facebook TNB Careline when there is flooding in their area.

“TNB always monitor the flood situation and will switch off supply to substations in flood affected areas if the water reaches the danger level. The electricity supply to the affected areas would be reconnected after the flood water receded,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

Ir Mohd Aminuddin also advised parents to monitor their children, especially when playing in flood water, to ensure they do not approach or go near snapped electrical wires as they might still conduct electricity. He urged the public should be careful when handling electrical appliances that had been submerged in water. He added that they should get the appliances inspected and tested by certified electrical contractors before using them.
