GEORGE TOWN, Nov 20 – Several DAP assemblymen on Thursday requested an additional session of the state assembly in a year, saying this will give more time for discussions and alleviate the need to meet till late into the night. Ong Chin Wen (DAP-Bukit Tengah) said the additional session was necessary to enable all questions to be answered by the state government.
He told the state legislative assembly that the state government should add on at least one more session. His suggestion was supported by Soon Lip Chee (DAP-Jawi) and Cheah Kah Peng (DAP-Kebun Bunga). Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, in responding to the request, said the matter would be noted and considered. He also said that though the assembly met only twice a year, it enabled all assemblymen to participate in the debates.
