GEORGE TOWN, Nov 21 – The Opposition leader of Penang State Assemblywomen, Datuk Jahara Hamid urged Permatang Pasir assemblyman tostand on his position as the sole representative of PAS. She said as an elected representative of the PAS, Salleh Man should abide the decision from PAS as the opposition party in the state. She said this at a press conference in the Penang legislative assembly building here on Friday.
“If he be a member of the PAS, then follow the instructions. If don’t want to follow the instructions of the PAS, then he have to quit the party with dignity, with he have to quit the party because he can’t follow the instructions of the party leadership. But in this situation do not want to leave the party but to supports the state government,” she said.
“A member of the PAS, they should be loyal and support the participants of PAS and should not take a stand for self-interest. If continued Salleh Man said he still remained a member of PAS and support the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, it clearly contradicts and undermines the credibility of the party’s leadership. Guan Eng was to maintain Salleh Man in the state administration as an attempt to break up the party PAS,” Jahara said.
In the meantime, Pulau Betong assemblyman Muhammad Farid Saad, who was present at the press conference said Salleh Man must be honest in expressing his willingness either to support or PAS or DAP. He said that is important because it has an impact on the party’s leadership on the ground. He added that he think Salleh Man as PAS leaders must take a stand. He said as an experienced assemblymen Salleh Man must make a decision with honor.
“In the same time, I was still a member of PAS and will continue to serve as assemblyman in my area and also support the government of Penang, DAP. I still have not received the black and white of the PAS. So, I will sitting as a Permatang Pasir assemblyman in the Penang legislative assembly,” Salleh Man said.
