KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 – Charles Suresh Morais, the younger brother of the late Anthony Kevin Morais, fled the country after making various allegations in connection with his brother’s death. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said Suresh left the country at 1.30 am through the Johor Causeway last Thursday, a day after he held a press conference on Kevin’s death.
He said he regard Suresh a coward and an irresponsible person having left the country after making the allegations. He told this to the reporters at the passing out parade for cadet police inspectors at the Police Training Centre here on Saturday. The social media and news portal recently reported various allegations made by Suresh in connection with Kevin’s death, including that his brother was involved in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) probe.
“The police would call Suresh’s lawyer, Americk Sidhu, soon to assist investigation. If he (Sidhu) cannot assist in the investigation, police will use other method to track down Suresh,” he said, adding that the police had opened investigation papers against Suresh under Section 202 of the Penal Code for intentional omission to provide information of an offence,” said Khalid.
Six men have been charged with Kevin’s murder while pathologist Dr R. Kunasegaran has been charged with abetment. The remains of Morais, 55, was found in a drum filled with concrete at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Subang Jaya, near here last Sept 16. The deceased was reported missing on Sept 4 and he was last seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta, here to go to his office in Putrajaya in a Proton Perdana car with the registration number WA6264Q.
