GEORGE TOWN, Nov 29 – DAP members like family while will stand together united against those who seek to destroy them, said DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng, who is also Penang Chief Minister, in the opening of the State Ordinary Convention of the Penang DAP which held at the Equitorial Hotel on this morning.
“We in DAP are not like UMNO, where their President and the Deputy President fight against each other. Here is our DAP family we support each other. We in DAP are not like MCA, who dare not even support their former President Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, who facing a legal suit by the Prime Minister merely for asking Datuk Seri Najib to resign,” said DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng.
“Instead we in the DAP give full undivided support to our political mentor, Sdr Lim Kit Siang, who was kicked out of Parliament for speaking up on the 1MDB RM42 billion and the RM2.6 billion donation scandal. Chow Kon Yeow has supported me as DAP Secretary-General and Penang Chief Minister whilst I have supported him as Penang DAP Chairman and senior state EXCO member. This is the essential to the success of Penang DAP and Penang state government,” he said.
During the closing of the assembly last week, a motion tabled by Muhamad Farid Saad (BN-Pulau Betong) on land reclamation on the state had drew the attention when Teh voted for it together with all the nine Barisan assemblymen present in the House while five PKR assemblymen, namely Ong Chin Wen (Bukit Tengah), Dr Norlela Ariffin (Penanti), Cheah Kah Peng (Kebun Bunga), Dr T. Jayabalan (Batu Uban) and Lee Khai Loon (Machang Bubuk) are also abstained.
Teh had initially voted to support the BN motion who tabled by Muhamad Farid Saad (BN-Pulau Betong) but later apologised to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng admitted that he had made a mistake and apologised. In the meantime, he had also resigned as state DAP organising secretary on Tuesday.
