KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 – Following are excerpts of the UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s policy speech entitled “UMNO: Perfecting A Struggle” when opening the 2015 UMNO General Assembly, here Thursday.
- In our determination to struggle, even if the sky crashes down, even if the earth is split into two, with the motto “Bersatu, Bersetia dan Berkhidmat,” (Unity, Loyalty and To Serve), UMNO is the only party belonging to us, defend it…defend it together.
- We in this assembly, must continue to uphold the interest and position of the race and the descendants of the Malays and Bumiputeras, in our own homeland.
- Leaders actually are not born in the lecture hall, on the contrary, the leaders emerge in the arena and in the midst of crises so that they can tackle all challenges and tribulations.
- No matter how high the obstacle is, no matter how strong is the opposition, I can never surrender, in fact, I should face it head on to resolve the problem and continue to lead UMNO towards victory.
- Leadership is not about being arrogant, also not about gathering people all over the place, to criticise and hurl accusations at will.
- I am a gentleman, if there are problems, let us meet, sit down and discuss, we resolve the problem through the proper channel.
- I can’t just abandon our cause and drop our mission, without trying beforehand, ensuring that not only the issues arising are resolved, in fact the situation in the party and among the people are revived as it was before.
- I cannot become a coward.
- I am certain that I am right, and the truth will eventually prevail (on the 1Malaysia Development Bank and the RM2.6 billion fund).
- Certainly, loyalty and adherence are not only the key values, but are also the characteristics, attitudes, principles and beliefs that must be developed by every UMNO member from the very bottom right to the top leadership.
- I am one who is not confrontational. I have also not brought down anyone, what more to betray our beloved party, UMNO.
- I pledge to continue the struggle to lead cause of the Malays and Bumiputera.
- No retreat!! No surrender!!
