KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 – The debates on previous years that followed the Umno wing leaders’ policy speeches which no broadcast live on screens around the Putra World Trade Centre here Wednesday. This was to the chagrin of the party members outside the halls where the assemblies were held.
Previously the telecasts allowed Umno members who are not official delegates to observe the proceedings as only those with access tags can enter the halls. But after ended the speech by Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil, which was broadcast live, the screens had played a recording of Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s opening address on last year’s assembly.
One of the 63-year-old lady said she had travelled from Perak to watch the live debates, but was now fed up and planned to return home tonight. Meanwhile, there were also another observer dismissed the notion that the live telecast was cancelled to protect delegates’ from having their speeches misreported. Even media with access tags but some had also claimed that they were told to leave the hall this morning after covering the speeches of the wings’ chiefs.
