KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 – UMNO Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Vice-President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal were urged ‘to calm down’ and be re-united to strengthen the party’s unity. Kelantan UMNO representative, Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad said the two leaders should learn from the Kelantan political history and avoid prolonged leadership crisis.

“Conflict among leaders has caused Kelantan to face a massive political crisis and until now UMNO has failed to get back Kelantan. UMNO cannot fight anymore, because of the crisis BN failed to win two-thirds majority in the Parliament,” said the Kelantan UMNO Information chief when tabling a motion on the president’s speech at UMNO General Assembly 2015 at the Putra World Trade Centre here on Thursday.

Md Alwi, who is also Kok Lanas assemblyman, said if the leaders made peace with each other, the party and the country would be safe and the Malays would be taken care of. Md Alwi also urged the government to listen to the pulse of the people, who continued to be burdened by the rising cost of living.

“Listen. Think about the people’s problems. Revamp the old agreement which was made at a time that was different from the current economic situation. In the meantime, the leaders must also love their people, the prime minister must love his people,” he said. The motion was then seconded by UMNO Youth representative Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, who also said that it was important for UMNO to be united and solve any dispute in a civilised and wise manner in the interest of the people.
