KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 – The issue on the cost of living must be resolved before it becomes a political problem and manipulated by certain quarters for political gain. Ipoh Barat Wanita UMNO division head, Sharifah Norhashimah Syed Kamaruddin said the issue was now seen to pose a heavier burden on the people and needed to be tackled effectively to show that the government led by the Barisan Nasional and UMNO was capable of tackling it.
“The issue on the economy will turn into a political issue and will burden UMNO and the BN if not tackled effectively and will subsequently erode the people’s support in the coming 14th General Election,” she said as a representative of Wanita UMNO when debating the motion on the economy at the 2015 UMNO General Assembly, here on Saturday. Meanwhile, she also suggested that the government set up the National Women’s Economy Action Council to empower the economy of women in the country.
