KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 – In conjunction with the 2016 New Year celebrations, the Light Rail Transit System (LRT), KL Monorail and RapidKL bus services will extend their hours of operation at selected stations on Thursday. According to a statement issued by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, LRT and Monorail services at key stations will be extended to 12.30 am and 2 am, while the bus services will be extended to 2.30 am for selected routes.
Services at the Hang Tuah and Bandaraya stations on the LRT Ampang Line and Hang Tuah on the KL Monorail Line will be extended to 12.30 am, while services at the Masjid Jamek station on the LRT Ampang Line, Masjid Jamek and KLCC stations on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, and Air Asia-Bukit Bintang station on the Monorail KL Line will be extended to 2 am.
“Although the entrance gates of the other stations will be closed in stages according to the normal operation hours, LRT and Monorail passengers at the key stations involved can still exit at any station until the end of the service extension time,” said the statement.
RapidKL bus services to Taman Sri Muda, Taman Medan, Subang Suria, Kota Damansara, Pandan Mewah, Taman Sentosa, Kajang Terminal, Taman Melawati, Taman Dato’ Senu, Taman Jasa Utama and Puchong Utama will extend its hours until 2.30 am. The Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Komuter service hours will be extended to 1.30 am with additional services for the KL Sentral-Rawang, Putra- Seremban and Putra-Port Klang routes.
A KTMB statement said five Komuter train stations, namely Putra, Bank Negara, Kuala Lumpur, KL Sentral and Bandar Tasik Selatan, would be operating until the last train. For smooth travel, passengers are advised to purchase return tickets or use the Touch ‘n Go card to avoid congestion at the ticket counters when returning home.
