BERA, Jan 10 – The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKLW) will focus on the plight of rubber tappers who are now facing problems following the drop in the commodity price. Its minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said among the steps taken was by setting up a committee at the ministerial level to address the rising cost of living and to find the best mechanism to ease the burden of the group as well as other rural communities.
“At the ministry level, RISDA (Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority) will concentrate on ways to assist them. The committee comprising representatives from RISDA and other regional agencies will sit to resolve the matter,” he told reporters before attending the closed-door meeting on election at the Bera constituency-level at the Rakan Muda Complex here Saturday.
In the meanwhile, Ismail Sabri, who is also UMNO Supreme Council member, also in urging on the Bera party members to work harder to face on the next general election, said that they should not remain in their comfort zone lest Bera falls to the opposition.
