PUTRAJAYA, Jan 21 – The government completed the distribution of maintainance allocations for government-aided schools with the final distribution received by 21 national-type Chinese Schools (SJKC) and mission schools on Wednesday. Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon said the final distributions were for three SJKC and 18 mission schools with a total allocation of RM2.25 million.

The government had allocated RM225 million for maintainance allocations to 1,892 government-aided schools as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling the Budget 2015. Chong said the allocation would help all schools to do various maintainance works including wiring works and also roof and toilets repairs.

“The allocation can also be used to buy school equipments such as tables, chairs or upgrading computer software based on requirement or any special case for the schools involved. In another development, I had reiterated the ministry’s stand for not relating the issue of SJKC Pai Chee in Mersing, Johor as a racism issue. The case was still under investigation,” he told reporters after handing over the allocation distribution here on Wednesday.

Earlier, the media reported that a female teacher at the school claimed she had been attacked by the father of a student in a teacher’s room. The teacher had also alleged that her report to the school management on the incident was not given attention by the school. Due to the case, the Johor Education Department had formed a special task force to facilitate investigations.
