GERIK, Jun 29 – UMNO’s decision to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir was made after the Supreme Council discussed a report from the party’s disciplinary committee, said party vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
“The decision was made based on the arguments and facts contained in the report. The sacking was based on the report of the party disciplinary committee. It will be pointless if the decision was made without adhering to the procedure determined by the party.
He said the decision had to be made in accordance with the proper and not seasonal procedure. Meanwhile, he also said that the most important thing is to wait for the party’s report before making any decision. He told this to reporters after a visit to army camps in Tasik Banding yesterday. The defence minister was asked to comment on the party decision to sack former deputy president Muhyiddin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz last Friday. — Bernama
