GEORGE TOWN, November 1 — Four houses in Taman Seri Rambai, Paya Terubong, remain unsafe following Sunday’s fatal landslide, Penang authorities said.

State Local Government Committee chairman H’ng Mooi Lye said houses numbered 1, 3, 5 and 7 remain restricted, while residents of two other homes may return.

The Penang Island City Council ordered construction work stopped and required immediate slope protection measures, with further safety reports due within seven days.

The developer must also submit updated erosion control plans and implement temporary slope stabilisation measures.

The Department of Occupational Safety and Health inspected the site on October 29 to investigate the cause of the landslide.

An inter-agency meeting scheduled for November 2 will review investigation findings, mitigation progress and further safety measures.
