PUTRAJAYA, September 16 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government will consider immediate measures to ease higher electricity bills affecting some households.

Anwar said about 80% of domestic users consuming no more than 600kWh monthly remain protected from higher rates linked to increased fuel costs.

However, recent haze and hotter weather have increased electricity use in some homes, pushing consumption above 600kWh and exposing them to the Automatic Fuel Adjustment.

A special meeting involving PETRA, the Energy Commission, TNB and Finance Ministry will be held Thursday to consider measures to reduce the impact on affected households.
