GEORGE TOWN, Oct 8 – Penang Gurney Paragon are launching the Pink October with the biggest teddy bear which are in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The Pink October campaign was launching by State Assembly Woman for Pulau Tikus, YB Yeap Soo Huey, along with Executive Director of Hunza, Khor Tze Ming; Creator of the Giant Teddy Bear, Halen Lee; and Chief Executive Officer Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Tham Wei Wei.
YB Yeap Soo Huey shared some fact about the breast cancer with the audience during the launching Pink October with biggest teddy bear in Gurney Paragon. In the meantime, she also would like to urged the ladies to carry out breast self-exam once a month to prevent the mortal disease.
On the other hand, Executive Director of Hunza, Khor Tze Ming said in her opening speech that she was delighted to have the largest handmade teddy bear in Penang for this entire Pink October. She said the largest handmade teddy bear that created by Halen’s Handmade Bear will be displayed at the mall from Oct 6, 2015 until end of the month.
Chief Executive Officer Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Tham Wei Wei also said that creating awareness among Malaysia has never been an easy task and it is a continuous effort for Mount Miriam. She said they are exited to be beneficiary of the charity drive scheduled for Oct 18, 2015 which was an education health talk teaming up with Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital.
She added that this charity drive will also benefit the to all of the needy cancer patient fund, which is used to subsidise the needy cancer patients’ treatment. In the same time, she also said that this fund will be also disbursed about RM1.0 million a year on the needy cancer patient fund.
During the month of October, the biggest teddy bear will be also wearing pink ribbon in support of Pink October. Public can take photos with the biggest teddy bear and place their monetary contribution into the donation box. Besides that, anyone who donates RM1 will receive a pink ribbon.
The donation can be made at the Concierge at Level 1. All proceeds from the donation will be channelled to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital to aid the cancer patients. On the same day, there will also be a free health check for all the public with having a special promotions on health screening packages by Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital and free goodies as well for those public who attend the public talk at St. Jo’s Level 1.
