GEORGETOWN, March 20 – DAP and PKR have failed the trust and confidence of the people who had given them overwhelming support in the last general elections. In return of the support, DAP and PKR have stabbed the back of the Chinese and Indian community by failing to stop PAS from tabling the Syariah Criminal laws for implementation of Hudud. DAP and PKR are just puppet in the Pakatan Council despite the fact that their combination of seats far exceeded PAS. But PAS overruled and ignored them.

Now, DAP is again using ‘let it pass first’ a.k.a ‘jalan dulu, belakang kira’ approach that has irresponsibly allowed the bill to be passed by Kelantan Legislative Assembly paving way for implementation of hudud. With the bill passed, can DAP show us the ‘belakang kira’ approach to stop hudud and PAS from implementing it? DAP had since in 2013, signed a separate pact with PAS supporting PAS’ struggle of achieving a Pas’ styled Islamic State. Thus, it was no surprise that the DAP-Pakatan Penang State Government was unable to instruct MAIPP to withdraw their publicly stated stand on supporting hudud despite pressure from State BN last year.

The Secretary General of DAP and Chief Minister of Penang is at his usual avoidance style of refusing to openly criticize and stop PAS from implement hudud. Instead, his usual style is to push the blame to Gerakan and MCA. Gerakan and MCA have warned the Chinese and Indian community from support PAS since 1999 general elections as PAS has clearly expressed their intention to implement hudud. It was DAP, in particular, and PKR that had assured the Chinese and Indian community from the fear of supporting PAS. The attitude and irresponsible approach of DAP Secretary General and Chief Minister of Penang can be clearly seen from his latest ‘let it pass first’ remark on the tabling of the bill.

It is a ‘jalan dulu, belakang kira’ approach that has betrayed the trust of the Chinese and Indian community. First, was the signing of the pact with PAS in 2013. It was ‘jalan dulu, belakang kira’ approach which saw DAP supporting PAS’ intention of setting up an Islamic State, completely ignoring the feeling and rights of the Chinese and Indian community. DAP’s intention then, was to tell the Chinese and Indian community to ‘vote us first and we settle PAS later’- a ‘jalan dulu, belakang kira’ approach.
