ALOR SETAR, Jan 26 – The Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has requested public transport companies to lower ticket prices to reduce the people’s burden. Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said this could be done in view of the recent trend of falling global oil prices.

Ahmad Bashah said transport operators such as bus service operators can reduce ticket prices by more than RM1. He said transport companies should value their customers by lowering ticket prices as consumers are being burdened with rising living costs, including transport costs. He said this at the 5th Anniversary of the Intercity Coach Bus Company, here Monday.

Ahmad Bashah said that companies can also give discounts on ticket prices to customers in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration soon. He said those who make early reservations will be given discounts. He also added that the Intercity Coach Bus Company, gives discounts to customers who book tickets five days in advance.
