PETALING JAYA, Sept 17 – UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak will not announce the dissolution of Parliament at his scheduled special press conference later this afternoon. A news portal reported Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as saying the media conference is not about dissolving the Parliament to pave the way for the 14th General Election.
He quelled rife speculation on a ‘major announcement’ to be made by the Prime Minister, as quoted by The Star. The press conference will be held at Umno headquarters at Menara Dato’ Onn in Kuala Lumpur at 4.45pm. All Umno supreme council members received an invitation on Saturday night from the party secretary-general to attend the media conference. All Umno mentri besar and chief ministers are expected to attend it.
