GEORGE TOWN, Nov 19 – The victim’s Lim Yin Chun and Lim Jia Yiin funeral which happen this morning on 10:30am at the Sri Saujana Flat in Lebuh Macallum. The cortege of the Lim Yin Chun, 9 and Lim Jia Yiin, 8, who perished in a pre-dawn fire that gutted their double-storey cluster house near Cecil Street on Wednesday, was leaved the house and cremated at Penang’s Batu Gantung Crematorium.
Some 50 close relatives and friends attended the funeral. SJK(C) Li Tek also sent orchestras accompaniment at the funeral ceremony. Among the songs played prior to the funeral rites was “You Yi Wan Sui” (Auld Lang Syne) and Manual of Youth by TFBoys.
Lim was seen holding back tears while staring at the casket of his two children as they were pushed into the incinerator at about 11.10am. The body of two other victims of the fire – Lim’s mother Lau Sai Poh, 62 and his wife, Chen Yan, 35, will be cremated later in the afternoon at 2:00pm.
The four victims perished in an early morning blaze that engulfed their two-storey home at Pintasan Cecil 5, Pengkalan Weld on Nov 15 at 6am. Lim, who is an engineer, was working at a factory in Bayan Lepas when his entire family perished in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — PN
