GEORGE TOWN, March 1 – The state of Penang has been listed as one of the Top 10 Most Beautiful Southeast Asian Destinations by TheTravel. The Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy(PETACE) YB Yeoh Soon Hin is thrilled of this international recognition as it is a testament of Penang’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality that offer travelers an unforgettable experience that is both authentic and awe-inspiring.

From crisis to transformation, the tourism promotion and the initiatives taken by PETACE and relevant agencies have contributed to the overall sector’s growth. However, Yeoh believes that it will take time to fully recover, but the steps taken by the state government have shown promising signs for a successful revival of the industry.

Being included on this esteemed list could not have done without our industry players, and I will push on by bringing public and private sector experts together to focus on the potential of enhanced cooperation to share our unique destination with visitors from all around the world.

Yeoh has been engaging with the private sector, regional and local tourism organizations to seek the opportunity for public-priavte-people partnership, and practice cultural diplomacy with various embassies in Malaysia. He stated that several cultural festivals are in the midst of arrangements and will be announced very soon.
