SHAH ALAM, June 15 – FUJIFILM Malaysia is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of its latest mirrorless digital camera, the “FUJIFILM X-S20” (X-S20), scheduled for 29 June 2023. This new addition to the renowned X Series of mirrorless cameras combines compact and lightweight design with exceptional image quality, thanks to Fujifilm’s proprietary color reproduction technology. The X-S20 boasts AI-based subject-detection autofocus (AF) and the ability to record 6.2K/30P video, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of shooting styles.
Managing Director of FUJIFILM Malaysia, Kensuke Aragane, expressed his excitement about the X-S20, stating, “The X-S20 offers premium image quality and advanced portability, catering to a variety of shooting styles ranging from casual self-portraits to fully-fledged photography and videography.” The X-S20 is equipped with a back-illuminated 26.1MP sensor called “X-Trans™ CMOS 4” and Fujifilm’s high-speed image processing engine, “X-Processor 5,” ensuring outstanding image quality and low power consumption.
The camera features AI-powered subject-detection AF, utilizing deep learning technology to detect various subjects, including animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects, and drones. The AF system tracks the subject and keeps it in focus, allowing users to focus on capturing the perfect moment. The X-S20 also includes an AUTO mode with the new AUTO Subject Detection function, automatically identifying and tracking subjects for high-quality stills and videos. In terms of design and functionality, the X-S20 incorporates a large grip for stable handheld shooting, while maintaining a compact and lightweight body weighing just 491g.
The use of a high-capacity battery enables the camera to capture approximately 800 frames, more than double the previous model, making it ideal for all-day shooting and travel. Additionally, the X-S20 features a five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) mechanism that provides up to a 7.0-stop advantage, ensuring sharp and steady images, even in challenging lighting conditions. Videographers will appreciate the X-S20’s video capabilities, including internal 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit recording.
The camera also supports 4K/60P and 1080/240P video, offering flexibility in capturing high-quality footage. With the inclusion of F-Log2, users can record videos with an expanded dynamic range of 13+ stops, allowing for greater creativity in post-production. The X-S20 is equipped with a 3.5mm microphone/earphone jack for external accessories, and a new Vlog Mode simplifies Vlog production when combined with the tripod grip, TG-BT1. Fujifilm remains committed to providing photographers with a comprehensive lineup of mirrorless cameras and lenses.
