CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA, August 30 – Apple has officially announced that it will hold a highly anticipated press event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California, on September 12. The tech giant is expected to unveil its latest iPhone lineup during the event. The launch event will be accessible via a live stream on Apple’s website, beginning at 10 a.m. PT. Apple has been using pre-recorded videos for its iPhone launches since 2020. In Malaysian time, this event will take place on September 13, 2023, at 1 a.m. The venue for the event will remain the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park in Cupertino.
This year’s event carries the theme “Wonderlust,” as indicated by the invites sent to selected media outlets. The highlight of the event is likely to be the introduction of the new iPhone 15 series. These new smartphones are expected to bring one of the most significant changes to the iPhone lineup in years: a transition from the Lightning port to USB Type C. This shift is largely attributed to forthcoming EU regulations that mandate a standardized charging port. The upcoming iPhone models, presumably branded as the iPhone 15, are set to adopt USB-C charging ports, aligning with the European Union’s groundbreaking legislation passed in October.
The EU law requires all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras sold in the EU to adopt USB-C for wired charging, with a deadline of December 28, 2024. Reports suggest that Apple may introduce some of these new devices with titanium components. Additionally, there’s speculation that Apple might announce new Apple Watch models during the event, potentially including an updated version of the high-end Apple Watch Ultra. Traditionally, Apple releases the latest iOS version for iPhones at its September events.
This year, iOS 17 is set to debut, featuring enhancements like a more visual caller ID known as “contact posters,” improved autocorrect functionality, and a new journaling app. Apple enthusiasts and tech enthusiasts around the world eagerly await this event, where they hope to get the first glimpse of Apple’s latest innovations and product offerings.
