GEORGE TOWN, September 29 – Open Studios Penang ’23 is back for the fourth time, this year with the theme ‘The Bunny Verses, Out of the Rabbit Hole.’ The event will span over two weekends, taking place on October 7th – 8th and 14th – 15th, offering a myriad of art experiences to the public. Open Studios Penang ’23 will kick off with a group show at ChinaHouse. This event promises a rich tapestry of art experiences, from open studios to exhibitions, live events, workshops, and engaging talks. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with artists, gain insight into their creative processes, and even participate in workshops and discussions. Open Studios Penang ’23 has chosen the theme ‘The Bunny Verses – Out of the Rabbit Hole’ for several compelling reasons. 2023 aligns with the Chinese zodiac’s Year of the Rabbit, symbolizing renewal and growth after challenging times. The theme also nods to Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh’s Oscar win for her role in a movie about the multiverse. Open Studios Penang (OSP) is a not-for-profit annual art event designed to foster artistic exchange among creators and provide the public with the opportunity to meet artists, witness their creative processes, and engage in discussions about art.

It is made possible through donations, artist contributions, and the dedication of volunteers. In partnership with the Penang Art District and with the support of sponsors such as Asiarta, ChinaHouse, Hungry Goat, Penang Free Sheet, and Smashing Advantage, Open Studios Penang ’23 promises to be an enriching experience for all art enthusiasts.
