GEORGE TOWN, September 29 – The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) has issued an alert to inform valued water consumers that strict monitoring is ongoing due to the high level of water turbidity resulting from flooding in the Baling district of Kedah today. As of the latest reports, the raw water quality at the Lahai Tiang intake has exceeded 1500 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU), and the water production from the Sungai Da treatment plant is operating at only 30% of its capacity. The affected areas due to this situation are as follows:

  1. Low water pressure experienced in Georgetown.
  2. Areas with no water supply extending from South Bukit Dumbar to Balik Pulau, including Pulau Betong, Bukit Penara, Pondok Upeh, and Bandar Balik Pulau.
  3. Low water pressure in Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah.
  4. No water supply in Seberang Perai Selatan.

PBAPP assures the public that they will provide updates on this situation as it develops and progresses. The corporation also expresses regret for any inconvenience caused by this disruption in water supply and is actively working to resolve the issue.
