KUALA LUMPUR, November 7 – The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) has taken a significant step towards strengthening industry engagement and expanding its presence with the launch of the MTA+ Borneo Chapter. This marks the second chapter established under the MTA+ initiative, following the inaugural chapter in Kelantan in June of the same year. The objective is to forge closer connections between MTA, its member companies, industry leaders, and agents at regional and state levels.
MTA’s commitment to broadening its outreach efforts within the Takaful industry led to the creation of the MTA+ initiative, which resulted from successful T-Talk sessions held by MTA across four regions: East Coast (Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu), South (Melaka, Negeri Sembilan & Johor), Northern (Kedah & Pulau Pinang), and Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak). In response to these developments, industry leaders and stakeholders convened to explore the future of Takaful in Sabah and expand efforts through the MTA+ Borneo Chapter. This chapter serves as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among key players in the Takaful industry.
The establishment of MTA+, also known as MTA Chapter, provides an excellent avenue for public outreach, fostering communication, and disseminating knowledge about Islamic Finance, with a particular focus on the importance of Takaful. Through direct engagement with individuals, the organization aims to raise awareness and provide valuable insights into the benefits and essential nature of Takaful coverage. This, in turn, helps individuals understand the significance of protecting themselves, their families, and their assets through Takaful policies.
Encik Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, CEO of MTA, stated, “The Takaful industry is poised for substantial growth as Sabah, a region known for its natural beauty and cultural diversity, emerges as a promising untapped market.” As Sabah embraces Takaful, the industry is expected to make a significant contribution to the region’s economic growth, financial stability, and overall prosperity. The core objective of MTA+ is to enhance engagement and visibility of MTA activities and initiatives. To achieve this goal, the association envisions the establishment of local chapters, serving as ambassadors representing MTA’s vision in their respective regions.
This closer collaboration is expected to ignite a Takaful4All movement while accelerating MTA’s responsiveness to industry-specific issues and localized concerns. The official launch of the MTA+ Borneo Chapter took place during the MTA T’Talk session with the CEO in Kota Kinabalu on September 20, 2023, marking a significant moment in MTA’s commitment to strengthening industry ties and expanding its outreach efforts.
