KUALA LUMPUR, October 27 – Infinaxis Data Centre, a distinguished developer and operator, has marked a significant milestone by breaking ground on its inaugural internet data centre (IDC) in Cyberjaya, colloquially known as Malaysia’s ‘Silicon Valley.’ This state-of-the-art facility, anticipated to be operational by Q2 2025, covers over 17,000 square meters and incorporates 10 data halls, each capable of delivering a substantial 12MW IT load while offering up to 80kW of power density per rack.

The centre is purpose-built to serve hyperscalers, AI services, cloud providers, and larger enterprises, further solidifying Malaysia’s position in the digital landscape. The construction of Infinaxis’ data centre is well-timed, as Malaysia’s data centre industry is forecasted to grow at a 7% CAGR from 2022 to 2027, reaching a value surpassing $2 billion by the end of the forecast period. This growth is driven by increasing internet usage and data generation across various sectors.

Infinaxis has not only secured pre-leased tenants for its maiden data centre but also acquired adjacent land to prepare for potential expansion, recognizing the burgeoning demand for these facilities. Zahri Mirza, CEO of Infinaxis, envisions this pioneering facility as pivotal in promoting innovation, sustainability, and expansion within the region. With a firm commitment to serving customers’ growing demands and supporting Southeast Asia’s digital transformation, this data centre serves as a testament to Malaysia’s goals of digital economic growth and excellence.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by industry stakeholders, government representatives, and other key figures in the digital ecosystem, underlining the significance of this development in Malaysia’s digitalization journey.
