GEORGE TOWN, December 8 – In a powerful partnership aimed at fighting poverty and elevating disadvantaged communities, the Malaysian Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (TERAJU) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) have come together to tackle enduring poverty through sustainable development strategies. Their shared goal is to address pressing community challenges and uplift underprivileged regions, aligning with the Masyarakat MADANI government agenda. This partnership has given rise to the SMART Community program, which focuses on enhancing production processes and product development to promote local products from rural areas on the global stage.
The SMART Community program, which stands for Sustainable Marketing for Community, is the result of a collaborative vision between TERAJU and USM. It represents an evolution of the Innovation for Community (INNO4C) project, funded by Dana Pembangunan Usahawan Bumiputera (DPUB). The program is specifically designed to address socio-economic challenges in underprivileged communities by emphasizing product enhancement and process improvements. USM, known for its strong commitment to research and development, brings its expertise, while TERAJU provides essential funding, ushering in a new era in addressing poverty through sustainable economic growth and community empowerment.
The SMART Community program’s mission is to bridge the gap between rural areas and global markets. By employing innovative strategies and modern technology to refine local products, it enhances their marketability and ensures economic sustainability for the communities involved. Currently, the program has achieved considerable success by entering markets in the United States, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and China, with plans to expand into Australia, Brazil, and Europe. This initiative offers hope to impoverished regions, providing a path to economic independence and growth.
As a forward-thinking initiative to unlock economic potential and promote sustainable business practices, the SMART Community Program is embarking on a transformative journey to Washington D.C., New Jersey, and New York in the United States from November 3rd to 16th, 2023. This mission aims to bring Sarawak’s unique indigenous products to the global stage while focusing on uplifting less privileged members within the community. The SMART Community Program has set several objectives for its mission. These objectives include entering the American business market successfully, understanding the operational intricacies of Enescorp International LLC, and creating a compelling narrative that highlights Enescorp’s role within the initiative.
The program also aims to promote Sarawak B40 Bumiputera products, enhance visibility, and attract local partnerships, and provide local businesspersons the opportunity to experience the quality of these products firsthand. Furthermore, the program seeks to inspire innovation by drawing insights from local businesspersons and SMEs, fostering cultural exchange, economic growth, and community empowerment. This project is a result of the fruitful collaboration between TERAJU and USM, who have worked tirelessly to combat poverty and provide opportunities for underprivileged communities. Enescorp International LLC leads marketing efforts to introduce Sarawak’s indigenous products to the North American market.
It has achieved impressive results and introduced numerous products into the United States market, surpassing FDA standards and assessments, offering hope and empowerment to communities and individuals facing socio-economic challenges. This initiative exemplifies the power of collective action in driving meaningful change and promoting sustainable development.
